"The students of the Photography- Technical Images class and Expanded Photography class at the Parque Lage School of Visual Arts, taught by professor Denise Cathilina, will release on August 22 the 360º virtual reality exhibition Ensonhações e Vaticínios. The exhibition opening also celebrates the World Photography Day, which takes place on August 19th.
11 artists exhibit about 50 photographs having as subjects the Covid19 pandemic, confinement, distance, the immateriality of virtual bodies and the new ways of living and relating. Ensonhações e Vaticínios presents two exhibition rooms. The first room, “Ensonhações”, expresses the current moment, the perplexity of facing a dystopian world, testimonies of the crisis and the pandemic. In the second room, “Vatícinios”, the artists presents their reflexions on bodies, people and the future.
The Covid19 pandemic forced the abrupt closure of schools and, for this reason, we’ve only had one in person aseignment. As a result of all changes we experienced and of art itself, the encounters and mismatches were forced to migrate completely to virtual modes, reflected directly on the group research, that investigates not only photography, but also the technologies that it incorporates and with which it is hybridized. Professor Denise Cathilina has been working on web art since 2005, naturally, the aspects concerning internet circulation of photography became central to the group's discussion. The class work is exposed in a three-dimensional exhibition gallery specially built by Katarine Almeida and Ricardo Kranen, also students of the course.
As a result of a collaborative work, in which every student and the teacher contributed to the elaboration, production and execution of the event, in addition to participating as artists. The virtual exhibition platform is available for visitation until August 19, 2021.
Mediated visits can be scheduled by groups and schools free of charge during the exhibition period, the tour will be accompanied by interactive activities also available in Spanish and English. Tatiana Montaña Ribeiro, one of the artists, coordinates these activities. The group's objective is to explore the potential of contacts and meetings that the web is capable of providing. "
